Fun-less New Year

Happy New Year to all! Hope u guys had great fun for the past few days...unlike poor me...=(

Since last thurs, yours truly have been preparing for the start of school on 2nd Jan.
Chores include:
1) Decorating class notice boards n classrooms to create a "conducive environment" for the students when they come back to school (quoting my P, Mrs xxxx)

2) SHIFTING the class tables to my desired layout. Good exercise indeed cause i really sweat like hell shifting all the 40 tables and chairs all by myself. Perfect. But a worthy point to note was that I'm sharing my classroom w P4-Faith and e form t. is non other than the HOD of Sc. Prior to that I din have much contact w her n she seems like a really "dao" person as all the rest of the HxOxDs are. But it turned out that she was a really nice person, even allowing me to shift all the tables in any manner/layout that i want. Thank God for that cos its really difficult to come to a compromise with a class that have 40pupils compared to my 30 pupils.

3) Preparing the classrooms like pasting all the different symbols in the class. Lets see, there is

"Show me Faith" corner for showcasing their work
"Faith in Need" corner for putting extra stationery sets there in case any of these blur kids din bring their pencil cases. Act as a "Lost n Found" corner also b4 everyone starts telling me "Miss Huang i cannot find my pencil/ruler/eraser/colour pencil/glue/scissors!"
"Faith are Bookworm" corner to act as a mini-library in the class (which i had another good exercise sticking all the boxes together to form a bookshelf)
"Faith Winners" list to showcase all the award winners for the month n term
Preparing containers for each group to sharpen their pencils instead of everyone crowding at the dustbin

4)Cracking my "already-not-alot-but-you-still-wanna-squeeze-my-limited
-creative-brain-juices-out-of-me" to think of a theme to decorate the Maths Dept notice board. When e level-head of Maths (LH) who happens to be my reporting officer also told me that I've to do it by this Fri, my mind juz went blank cos i've absolutely no idea how to go about doing it. Luckily, i've a bf who has nothing but plenty of creative juices in his brain. So with his help after I contributed the main theme of making a "calculator-liked" chart since this year the P5s are having a new syllabus that is inclusive of calculators, we managed to finish it off.

So when did we do that? Tata...on a New Year's Eve night! After he came over to my house to have bbq, we retreated into my room n started working on it. Yes, no prizes for guessing it correctly... we countdown to 2008 while doing that sxxxxx chart! How pathetic is my way of celebrating a new year. Well, guess i can take comfort from the fact that the chart was a pretty good job done n I pin it up on the notice board the first thing i went to school today.

5) New Year's day- spent at home n facing the computer screen for 6hrs straight doing up my welcome ppt/classroom matters ppt

6)Today=First day of school

busy photocopying pupil's profile form/attendance sheet/committee members application form
talking n talking non-stop n standing n standing till feet hurt since there's no lessons for the first 3 days of school n we have to be with e class for the whole day
Making sure my P2 kids take good care of their P1 buddies during recess=walking around the full-of-anxious-parents-canteen for half an hour
chasing after god knows how many bus drivers who kept referring me to another person for that 1 bus driver to remind him to remember to fetch my girl to school tmr cos her parents came n complained that the bus din came to fetch her daughter to school today

7) 3/1/2008

IP induction meeting at 930am. Preparing for all the knives/arrows that will be shooting at us tmr by the HODs/LH/SH when we analyse last year SA2 results.

Alright. Time check: 1215am. That will explains y i need to go off now. I want my weekends!
